Application Guidance
- Make sure application surfaces are sound, clean and dry. Absorbent surfaces (e.g. new plaster) should be sized. Painted surfaces should be sanded.
- Supercover offers two surface finishes. The outer surface of the roll offers a finish that disguises brush and roller tracks whereas the inner surface is smoother. Please ensure that all lengths are pasted on the same side.
- Mark a straight line on the wall to position the first length, by using a plumbline (please note that lining paper should ideally be applied at 90º to the final wallcovering if it is to be used as a base for decorative wallpaper).
- Measure and cut lengths allowing extra for trimming at either end.
- Apply the adhesive evenly ensuring the edges are covered.
- Fold lengths but do not crease and leave each length to soak for the same period of time until pliable; we recommend 15 minutes.
- Apply the first length to the guideline. Smooth down with brush and trim. Remove any adhesive from the face of the paper using a sponge and clean water.
- Butt joint subsequent lengths and do not overlap.
- Lining paper can vary in shade between makings, if the lining is to be used as the finished wall covering we recommend painting once dry to ensure colour consistency, for best results follow the paint manufacturer’s instructions.
- Allow to dry completely before applying final wallcovering or coating with paint, normally at least 24 hours is required.
Adhesive
Wherever possible we recommend a good quality ready mixed adhesive.
Inspection of rolls
We make every effort to ensure our wallcoverings are perfect but variations sometimes occur. Before hanging check rolls are undamaged. Please retain all labels until decorating is complete, we will require them if you have a problem. We recommend after hanging 2 or 3 drops that you inspect the result before continuing. We cannot accept claims for consequential loss in respect of defects apparent prior to hanging or overhanging with decorative wallpaper. No claims in excess of one roll can be allowed for defects which are visible at the time of hanging. If a fault is found, please return any defect roll/s with label/s to where it was purchased. This does not affect your statutory rights.
Warning
To minimise the hazard in the event of fire, do not apply wallcoverings over expanded polystyrene veneers and ensure the wallcoverings are always firmly stuck down as loose wallcoverings may contribute to the hazard. Surfaces painted prior to 1960 may contain lead pigments and special precautions should be taken when preparing these surfaces.
