The Nymph is actually the painted portrait of Simonetta Vespucci, the mistress of Giuliano de Medici, attributed to thefamous artist Sandro Botticelli. Shown in profile, the young woman with pendant on her necklace also places her in theimmediate circle of the Medici, imitating a famous ancient cameo which was in that family’s collection. Framed with Lincoln black frame and golden slip.
