Bold creativity and diverse designs from Graypants

Graypants is a team with studios in both Seattle and Amsterdam. Their bold creativity leads to diverse designs in products, architecture and other beautiful objects around the world.

Founders Seth and Jon, rooted in Seattle, decided to further feed their creative appetites through product design and art exhibits.

In 2007 the new company’s flagship line of pendant lights made entirely of repurposed corrugated cardboard – scraplights - was promptly introduced.

Scraplights quickly became a prime example of the principles that Graypants embodies to this day – responsible design, responsible materials and responsible production.

In 2012 Graypants founded its Amsterdam studio to become a hub for local European production and distribution to over 40 countries. The Seattle studio continues to provide local production for North America and houses the bustling custom and prototyping shop.

Today, Graypants continues to expand its custom portfolio from architectural installations to public artworks, and has numerous product lines sold throughout the world. The range of their work is comprehensive, covering residential and commercial lighting, furniture, packaging designs, and architecture.

Overview

Scraplight shades are made from recycled cardboard. All of our lampshades are handmade and therefore can vary slightly in shape + size. Lamped with one bulb (incandescent, compact fluorescent or LED), the Dome Scraplights provide a smooth decorative lighting – perfect for commercial and residential environments. All Dome fixtures come standard with a 2 meter long black fabric cord with matching powder-coated ceiling canopy.
